Ashanti So Over You

  The first single from Ashanti's album Chapter II, "Rock wit U (Awww Baby)", became a hit, peaking at number two on the Billboard Hot 100 List. Its video, which showed Ashanti in a bikini frolicking on a beach and riding an elephant named Bubbles, was nominated for two 2003 MTV Video Music Awards. A remix of "Rock With You" contains interpolations of Michael Jackson's "Rock with You".

   The Ashanti video "Happy", as well as Ashanti's follow-up single, "Baby", were not as successful as her smash debut single "Foolish" but they peaked inside the top twenty and top ten of the Billboard Hot 100 in the U.S., respectively.

   "Foolish" was Ashanti's debut single in 2002 from the album Ashanti. "Foolish" contains a sample of the 1983 hit song "Stay with Me" by DeBarge (also used by The Notorious B.I.G. in his 1995 smash single "One More Chance", and by Big L in "MVP"). "Foolish" is Ashanti's biggest song to date, spending ten weeks on top of the Billboard Hot 100 List. The Ashanti video "Happy", as well as Ashanti's other follow-up single, "Baby", were not as successful as her debut single "Foolish" but peaked inside the top ten and top twenty in the U.S., respectively.

This single, "Body on Me", a collaboration with Nelly, was featured on Ashanti's fourth studio album The Declaration, which was released in June 2008.

"Mesmerize" is the second single by Ja Rule from his album The Last Temptation.  The Ashanti Mesmerize video was inspired by the film Grease. The song ends abruptly with Ja Rule's friends emerging from a black van and asking him if he's riding with them. After he hesitates and turns to Ashanti, she says she's riding if he's riding. They enter the van and after a few quick cuts they emerge and Ja Rule begins rapping "Destiny," an uptempo "hardcore" street song that contrasts with the more mellow "Mesmerize." The video ends with a crowd of Black men marching the streets and holding up various signs, including tributes to late rapper Tupac and DJ Jam-Master Jay.
